MARGARET KARAM, mezzo-soprano, is Director of Music at Western Reserve Academy. After studying voice and conducting at The Eastman School of Music, Ms. Karam sang professionally with the Dayton Opera, Vocal Arts before returning to Northeastern Ohio where she continued to perform with the Cleveland Opera while conducting and teaching at WRA. She has been a featured performer on the Chagrin Valley Chamber Music Series as well as numerous other regional series. She continues to perform and maintains an active private voice studio. At Western Reserve Academy Ms. Karam conducts the Academy Choir, Orchestra and Symphonic Winds. Under her leadership, WRA musical groups have performed over 50 major classical works, a yearly Messiah Sing and Madrigal Feaste, and have undertaken performance tours to China, Austria, Italy and Spain. She believes that every student has the ability to make music and actively encourages and provides opportunities for them to do so.
EDWARD WILES, pianist, currently serves as Music Director for St. Phillip Episcopal Church, a prestigious Historically Black Church in Columbus, Ohio. He is Artistic Director and Conductor of the Cuyahoga Valley Concert Band. He has served as a music instructor and pianist for Western Reserve Academy. A highly accomplished pianist, conductor, and teacher, he has collaborated with numerous area Arts Organizations. Ed Wiles has appeared as keyboardist with Orchestre du Monde and the Chagrin Valley Chamber Orchestra. He is Associate Conductor for the Western Reserve Community Band where he plays trumpet. Ed Wiles was conductor of the Chagrin Valley Choral Union and held posts as Associate Conductor of the Summit Choral Society and Choral Arts Cleveland. His principal piano instructors have included James Sommerville, Richard Tetley-Kardos, Nancy Bacchus and Dr. Donald Gren. He is a graduate of The Ohio State University, Vandercook College of Music, and Trinity Lutheran Seminary.
