We are excited for the upcoming WRMTA Duet Festival on Saturday, February 5, at Steinway Piano Gallery in Hudson.
We have three studios with entries:
Amy Sauriol (2 duos)
Azee Keen (2 duos, 1 trio)
Jan Steedly (1 duo)
Please remind students and their families to arrive by 9:45 so that we may begin promptly at 10:00. Our guest artists, Gulimina Mahamuti and George Lopez, will speak for a few moments at the start, and their performance will kick off the morning. Following a short break, our student performers will take the stage, and our guest artists will write an evaluation for each team. (Teachers - these forms will be provided by Student Events team, you do not need to bring anything in this regard. Please DO plan to bring two copies of the scores, with measures numbered.) Following the performances, the guests will spend a few moments with individual teams and teachers to review their remarks. We expect to wrap up right around noon.
A new feature this year ~ we have one team (Steedly) whose work is still “in progress”, so we will ask Guli and George to spend a few moments coaching them on appropriate aspects of ensemble playing, points that will be beneficial for all in the audience.
Covid restrictions remain in place for all events at Steinway Gallery. Chairs will be arranged to allow for proper social distancing, audience size is limited to 50 persons, and masks will be required for all.
As soon as I have updated the adjudication forms to be used by the judges, I will share a copy that you may review with your teams ahead of the event.
Feel free to contact me with any questions that are on your minds!
