![]() A Message from the President
August 9, 2022 I hope everyone had enough time to rejuvenate, recharge and relax this summer before another hectic year. As I mentioned in the previous message, our board members met in May and agreed on improving our website. Our current website, wrmtaweebly.com, will be closed as we establish our new site, wrmta.org. Although the new website will not be available until October, we hope that our new site will not only engage our current members better but also reach out to our potential new members. The calendar for Member Activities for 2022-23 is finalized. This fall, we will have the following presentations: September 9, "Progressing Beyond the Method Book” Richard Van Dyke at Steinway Gallery October 7, “The Pianist Explores the Pipe Organ” Mario Buchanan Christ Church Episcopal in Hudson (21 Aurora St) February 3 • Dr. Caroline Oltmanns “Piano in the Age of the Internet” at Steinway Gallery March 3 • Lauren Hodgson “Dalcroze for Pianists” at Steinway Gallery April 14 • Sean Baran “Leopold Godowsky’s Student/Teacher Duets” at Steinway Gallery May 5 • Marissa Leonino Lange Member Luncheon and Discussion “Better Together - Partner/Group Learn (Location: TBA) On November 4th, we will have the much-awaited Middle East District Conference featuring Jasmin Arakawa from the University of Florida. The conference will be held at The University of Akron. She will give a presentation titled "Technique vs. Musicality?" in the morning, a masterclass in the afternoon and give a solo recital in the evening. The information will be sent to you via email or regular mail. We are trying to improve the way to inspire students through various venues. The Fall Recital at the Akron/Summit County library is always a big turnout. Our recital date and location will be finalized soon. Ribbon Festival at the beginning of March is another favorite activity for many students. Spring High School Gala and Fall/Spring Adult Evening are also along the way. The programs for 2022-23 will be on the new website by October. The website will continue to be improved little by little; we hope that more information should be available for the members. We would like to establish a member log in field for accessing to the member only resources, bylaws, annual reports, etc. In addition, we are hoping that members and non-members will be able to register online and make payments for registrations such as fall recitals and ribbon festivals if you prefer to pay by credit card. Above all, we will have a photo gallery of all of our events, which will be a great inspiration for all! We hope that you will be able to take advantage of all these opportunities to learn together and to improve our skills as teachers. We are looking forward to seeing you this year to stay connected at the local level.
